LIGO DETECTORS RECEIVE A GLOWING END-OF-RUN REVIEW

12 Aug 2020 — On April 1st 2019 the LIGO Virgo interferometer network began their third Observing Run, O3: a year-long dedicated search for gravitational waves which yielded an impressive haul of 56 candidate events. Now LIGO scientists have published a paper describing the improvements made to the Advanced LIGO detectors for O3 and reviewing the performance of the detectors throughout the Observing Run – during which the instruments were more stable and more sensitive than ever before.
